There were three lighting scenarios I did for the vault: dim, mid, and bright. Featured here are the dim and bright versions. This was a fun challenge for me. The concept art was gorgeous, and I tried my best to match it. One of my biggest challenges was to get the shaft of volumetric lights shooting up from the round platforms. To achieve this I put disc lights inside of cylinders that matched the diameter of each platform. At render time, I turned off the render visibility of the cylinders, and we were able to see the light fog that was captured inside of each cylinder. The environment was rendered in Maya using the Redshift render engine. Characters were rendered in 3DS Max using the Pencil+ plugin.
